Samantha Alaimo

Samantha Alaimo

Graduate Fellow

Potential Impacts of Offshore Wind Development on the Commercial Fishing Industry
Advisor: Dr. Travis Miles
Samantha is a Ph.D. student in Oceanography in the Department of Marine and Coastal Studies. She graduated with a B.S. in Marine Biology and a math minor from the University of New Haven in 2021. She is interested in how the physical features of the ocean affect commercially important fish populations and in how offshore wind development off the coast of NJ will affect fish populations.

Adrian Aranda Alzamora

Adrian Aranda Alzamora

Undergraduate Fellow

Understanding Offshore Wind Development in New Jersey: Community Impacts and Policies
Advisor: Dr. Victoria C. Ramenzoni
Adrian is a senior at Rutgers-New Brunswick, where he is double majoring in Political Science and Economics. Inspired by the political instability due to unsustainable extraction of fossil fuels in the Peruvian Amazon, Adrian continues to learn about fossil fuels, renewable energy, and the sociopolitical effects and legal implications of renewable energy resource mining.

Danielle Antoine

Danielle Antoine

Undergraduate Fellow

Data-driven Analysis on the Multi-scale Interaction between Wind Turbines and Coastal Processes
Advisor: Dr. Roger (Ruo-Qian) Wang
Danielle Antoine is a senior at Rutgers-New Brunswick in the School of Engineering majoring in Environmental Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. She has a great interest in sustainable energy and surface water remediation.

Jeury Betances

Jeury Betances

Undergraduate Fellow

Offshore Wind Development and the Summer Sea Breeze
Advisor: Dr. Travis Miles
Jeury is a SEBS student at Rutgers-New Brunswick, studying Meteorology and Geological Sciences. He is interested in understanding how anthropogenic behaviors affect climate change. He hopes his research with Dr. Miles will work towards a solution to relieve vulnerable communities of the stressors emitted by using fossil fuels; while also accounting for potential stressors to communities that are near these wind turbines.

Andrei Dumitriu

Andrei Dumitriu

Undergraduate Fellow

Data Science for Improved Offshore Wind Energy Operation
Advisor: Dr. Aziz Ezzat Ahmed
Andrei is an undergraduate at Rutgers-New Brunswick pursuing an Electrical and Computer Engineering degree. His broad academic interests are in Power Systems and Energy Markets. Andrei's interests are in transmission and renewable energy analytics. His goal is to learn more about the U.S. electricity market and how renewable energy can meet ambitious climate change goals and provide a robust generation dispatch.

Nathaniel Greengart

Nathaniel Greengart

Undergraduate Fellow

OpenTurbineCoDe: Open-Source Framework for Wind Turbine Modeling and Design
Advisor: Dr. Onur Bilgen
Nathaniel (Tani) Greengart is a senior at Rutgers-New Brunswick studying applied physics with a concentration in mechanical engineering. He believes that engineers should be at the forefront to design new styles of hydroelectric dams, power plants, batteries, and wind turbines that are better mechanically, economically, and environmentally than before.

Mohammad Katibeh

Mohammad Katibeh

Graduate Fellow

Control Co-Design Optimization of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines
Advisor: Dr. Onur Bilgen
Mohammad is a Ph.D. candidate at Rutgers-New Brunswick in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. He works in the Smart Systems Lab under Dr. Bilgen, where he studies the applications of smart materials in the structural and aerodynamic optimization of ornithopter wings. His areas of expertise are design optimization, finite element analysis, fluid-structure interaction, and data analysis.

Khalid Mujahiddeen

Khalid Mujahiddeen

Undergraduate Fellow

Framing Policy for Technology Integration in Offshore Wind
Advisor: Dr. Josh Kohut
Khalid was a nontraditional student majoring in Criminology at Rutgers-Newark. He co-facilitated at Newark's Housing Authority Training Recreation and Education Center. He was in the Accelerated Master's program and was a paralegal assisting the community with understanding how the criminal justice system works, how to seek redress, what resources are available to them, and how to secure those resources.

Tolulope Omodara

Tolulope Omodara

Graduate Fellow

Correlation between NJEDA Workforce's Dominant Training Approaches, Subsequent Strength of the Institution, and Later Outcomes and Impact
Advisor: Dr. Stephen Danley
Tolu is an M.S./Ph.D. student in Public Affairs and Community Development at Rutgers-Camden. She has over 20 years of experience working as an Institutional Strengthening and Strategic Management practitioner. Tolu will focus her research at the NJ Wind Institute on workforce development and racial justice issues around offshore wind.

Sophia Piper

Sophia Piper

Graduate Fellow

Benthic and Infaunal Community Structure within Offshore Wind Lease Areas
Advisor: Dr. Daphne Munroe
Sophia is a Ph.D. student in the Rutgers Ecology and Evolution Program working at the Haskin Shellfish Research Lab. Sophia's research interests lie in the intersection of marine biological resources and sustainable energy development. She is interested in how the development of offshore wind energy may provide a unique habitat that will create opportunities for shifts in benthic invertebrate communities.

Shreya Srikanth

Shreya Srikanth

Undergraduate Fellow

Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Platform Design, Modeling, and Control
Advisor: Dr. Laurent Burlion
Shreya's time at Rutgers has helped her further fuel her passion for aerospace engineering. She was previously a research assistant in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Advanced Controls Laboratory. This designing and testing versions of a VTOL drone. She hopes to learn more about her field, work with esteemed professors and colleagues, and come up with innovative solutions to wind energy.

Feng Ye
