Roadmaps for Collective Academic Excellence

As the Chief Academic Officer for Rutgers, the EVPAA is launching a five-year strategic initiative entitled Roadmaps for Collective Academic Excellence. This initiative amplifies and accelerates strategic investments by Rutgers’s four major academic units, catalyzing emergent multidisciplinary academic areas that span our schools and campuses in unprecedented ways. In partnership with the chancellors and their leadership teams, Roadmaps will lead to growth in academic programs, improved student success, greater research and scholarly impact, improved institutional reputation, and fulfillment of public service.

Collaborations at Scale

Collaboration is the engine of the virtuous cycle that drives academic excellence at Rutgers. Roadmaps expands opportunities for collaboration to eliminate barriers and open new pathways for students, recruit top faculty in leading-edge, interdisciplinary domains, and form strong partnerships with our surrounding communities in the state of New Jersey.

Creating Convergence

All Roadmaps for Collective Academic Excellence portfolios reinforce convergence between the academic and research missions at Rutgers by integrating student educational pathways with faculty collaborations, research resources, and research facilities. Projects are multidisciplinary in design, bridging schools and campuses across Rutgers in order to integrate complementary strengths and open new opportunities for discovery and growth.

Roadmaps to Collective Academic Excellence Support for Interdisciplinary Graduate Training

The Roadmaps Initiative from the EVPAA for Collective Academic Excellence will support interdisciplinary graduate training in bridging academic areas that show exceptional promise for advancing the educational and research capacity at Rutgers across schools and campuses and that show evidence of transformational impact on the institution and the academy at large.

All requests for support from UAA’s Roadmaps initiative should be endorsed by the relevant program leads and chancellors, provosts, and deans. They should demonstrate strategic alignment with campus academic priorities and integrate student educational pathways with faculty collaborations, research resources, and research facilities. Priority will be given toward institutional support for those proposals with demonstrable outcomes that seek extramural funding for expanding graduate fellowships and traineeships. Inquiries may be submitted to evpaa@rutgers.edu for follow up discussion of specific requirements.

Roadmaps Partnerships

All Roadmaps projects are born of strategic partnerships between the EVPAA, the chancellors and their leadership teams, and our deans and faculty. Together we identify high-impact areas of opportunity and leverage our resources to imagine interdisciplinary academic pathways for students, integrated faculty and student research programs, innovative experiential learning, and distinguished scholarship that can meet the challenges of the future.
