Jeury Betances
Offshore Wind Development and the Summer Sea Breeze
Advisor: Dr. Travis Miles
Jeury Betances is a student at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences at Rutgers-New Brunswick. He is currently studying Meteorology and Geological Sciences, and his interests include the weather, the environment, and climate change. He also serves as a member of the Meteorology Club, the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program, and is a Sloan S.T.A.R.. Jerry is particularly interested in understanding how anthropogenic behaviors affect climate change. Jerry believes that community impacts and policies are just as important as the research and are crucial to understanding offshore wind development. He hopes through his research with Dr. Miller, they will work towards a solution to relieve vulnerable communities of the stressors emitted by using fossil fuels; while also accounting for potential stressors to communities that are near these wind turbines. In his free time, you can catch him roller skating around the campus or reading a book at Passion Puddle
