If you're an established academic researcher or higher education professor and looking to gain international experience—the Fulbright Scholar program is for you! With the freedom to choose the subject and location of your work and the support of the Fulbright Program staff, this opportunity offers the chance to expand your worldview, establish a global network of like-minded scholars, and bring the world back into your classroom. Scholars from the United States and worldwide are welcome to apply.
The 2026–27 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program competition is open!
The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program competition for the 2027–2028 academic year is now open.
The deadline to apply to U.S. Scholar awards is September 15, 2026 (5:00 pm Eastern (UTC -5:00)). The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is offering more than 380 awards in more than 120 countries this year.
