Biography
Michele Moser Deegan, Ph.D., serves as associate vice president of academic assessment and accreditation for University Academic Affairs at Rutgers University. In this role, Dr. Deegan coordinates universitywide assessment and review of academic programs, manages domestic and international academic agreements, and supports academic policy development. She also is the university’s Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation liaison officer and accreditation lead.
Prior to joining Rutgers, Deegan held various faculty and administrative positions at Muhlenberg College, Lehigh University, George Washington University, New York University, and DePaul University. Her research, coursework, and community engagement has focused on issues of equity and inclusion, particularly in the areas of charter schools, K–12 public education finance, and state-level implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
Deegan earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and business from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in public service from DePaul University; she holds a Ph.D. in public administration from New York University. She created and served as the founding director of the Lehigh Valley Research Consortium, a regional research center. She is a member of the Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education (AALHE) and the Association of Institutional Research (AIR).
