Rutgers' Annual Academic Research Symposium – October 15–17, 2020

Members of the Rutgers Community:   

I am pleased to invite you to Rutgers' 2020 annual academic research symposium, Hacking the University: Reckoning with Racial Equity, Climate Justice and Global Warming.  The three-day virtual symposium is organized by Jack Tchen, Inaugural Clement A. Price Professor of Public History & Humanities and Director of the Clement Price Institute on Ethnicity, Culture and the Modern Experience at Rutgers University–Newark.       

You are invited to participate in a series of discussion sessions grappling with global warming, including the critical matters of racial equity and climate justice. "Hacks" will include presentations by Wayne Yang on A Third University is Possible, Winona LaDuke on Indigenous New Deal, Rod Ferguson's To Catch a Light-Filled Vision - the Activation of Radical Traditions, and Robert Kopp's Usable Earth System Science and the 21st Century Land-Grant Mission.  Speakers will also include Indigenous, environment justice scholars and community activists; diverse faculty from Rutgers University, as well as from other colleges and universities; and Rutgers—Newark Chancellor Nancy Cantor; and Rutgers University President Jonathan Holloway.   

This virtual program will take place on Thursday, October 15, 5:00 p.m.—6:15 p.m.; Friday, October 16, 11:00 a.m.—4:30 p.m.; and Saturday, October 17, 11:00 a.m.—1:30 p.m.
