Rutgers Highly Ranked for Graduates’ Social Mobility

Newark and Camden in top 10 for social mobility among national universities; New Brunswick is #16 top public university and among top 50 national universities
Rutgers University ranks high among the nation’s top universities for social mobility, according to the 2026 U.S. News & World Report college rankings, with Newark and Camden among the top 10 and New Brunswick ranking second among the Big Ten Conference’s 18 universities.
The social mobility rankings, which assess how well schools enroll and graduate economically disadvantaged students, is part of the annual U.S. News Best Colleges rankings of nearly 1,700 colleges and universities. Rutgers-Newark ranks #5 for social mobility, Rutgers-Camden ranks #9 and Rutgers-New Brunswick is #2 among the Big Ten’s 18 public and private universities and #52 nationally.
Once again among the top 20 public universities and top 50 of all national universities, Rutgers-New Brunswick is ranked as the #16 public university and the #42 national university in the U.S. News rankings.
