Leon Tkacenko
Ecological Vulnerability and Offshore Wind
Faculty Mentor: Julie Lockwood
Leon Tkacenko is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Rutgers Ecology and Evolution Program. He received a B.S. in Wildlife, Fish, & Conservation Biology from the University of California, Davis. His research focuses on how climate change is impacting bird populations. Leon’s work is management driven, with a focus on actionable research. Through the last year he has developed a strong interest in the impacts of offshore wind installations on birds. His interests in the topic largely lie in the potential for population scale impacts given the rapid expansion of offshore wind installations globally. Understanding more about how offshore wind has the potential to influence bird populations will be the focus of the remainder of his Ph.D.
