Rutgers University Academic Affairs is accelerating digital accessibility to meet updated ADA Title II rules by April 2026. Led by RADR in collaboration with UOES and OITA, the initiative focuses on accessible course content, websites, and procurement, utilizing Universal Design for Learning principles, captioning, alt text, and accessible syllabi. Tools like Canvas Ally, TidyUP, and design toolkits help faculty improve scores and compliance, with training, badges, and RBS best practices driving campus-wide impact.
The Educational Equity and Excellence Collaborative (E3C) supports first-generation and modest-income Rutgers students with resources, community connections, and innovative programs. Through Scarlet First and Innovation Grants, E3C partners with faculty, staff, and students to expand opportunities, meet essential needs, and strengthen academic success across the university.
Rutgers hosted its annual Online Learning Conference, drawing 700+ global educators. Eleven faculty were honored for excellence in online course design, program management, and DEI/accessibility. Winners highlighted student-centered teaching, engagement, and innovation, reflecting UOES’s commitment to advancing inclusive, high-quality online education.
The Office for University Online Education Services (UOES) enhances online learning with faculty support, course design, and student access to high-quality digital programs. UOES improves course visibility, aligns with Quality Matters standards, and offers faculty training to ensure student success through innovative, accessible education and seamless e-learning experiences.
