  • Aurora by Beyond The Professoriate

    The Office of Postdoctoral Advancement offers free access to Aurora to all STEM, Biomed, Humanities, and Social Sciences postdocs. Visit this link, choose Rutgers as the subscribing institution, and create your account using your net id.

    National Postdoctoral Association

    Rutgers University is a Sustaining Member of the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA), and one of the greatest benefits is you can become an Affiliate Member of the NPA for free!  The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs in collaboration with  Dr. Kathleen Scotto —Vice Chancellor for Research, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and Vice Dean, School of Graduate Studies —bring to all of you the opportunity to have a free affiliate membership to the NPA.

    We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to help you network with other postdocs across the country and gain access to members-only resources that can help further your career.

    Signing up is simple. Click on this link, choose the "Postdoc-Affiliate Membership' category, and follow the registration process. Once you click “Submit” the NPA Membership Manager will review your Affiliate membership within five working days, and you will receive an email when it has been approved.

    National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD)

    The NCFDD is an independent professional development, training, and mentoring community of faculty, postdocs, and graduate students from more than 450 colleges and universities. Its resources are highly beneficial--not only for faculty and students of color but for all in need of general mentoring and other resources to support transitions throughout their careers.

    By becoming an institutional member, all faculty, postdocs, and graduate students have access to the following member resources at no additional cost:

    In addition to the resources available to you as an institutional member, the center also offers professional development training and intensive mentoring programs. To claim your institutional membership, you will need to activate your personal membership account.

  • National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) - NRMN is a nationwide consortium of biomedical professionals and institutions collaborating to provide all trainees across the biomedical, behavioral, clinical, and social sciences with evidence-based mentorship and professional development programming.

    Imagine PhD - ImaginePhD is a free online career exploration and planning tool for PhD students and postdoctoral scholars in the humanities and social sciences. 

    InterSECT Job Simulations - for Life Sciences and Humanities

    SciPhD - Provides training for scientists who want to transition from academia to non-academic careers.

    Alda-Kevli Learning Center - Alda-Kavli online learning experiences are designed to introduce scientists and other researchers to some basic tools and strategies to empower clear and vivid science communication. 

    Coursera - Free courses for career development. From creative problem solving to personal branding, there are courses to navigate the changing world of work. 

    NIH: Office of Intramural Training & Education (OITE) - Many OITE workshops and science skills tutorials are now available online to trainees across the United States and around the world.

    Collaborative Learning and Integrated Mentoring in the Biosciences (CLIMB) - The resources are designed to help you improve your writing skills. The advice is designed to “de-mystify” the writing process. The resources focus on skills you can quickly master, no matter how you view yourself as a writer, and no matter how complex and subtle the science is.

    iNET NYC - Provides support and professional guidance for all international graduate students and research fellows in STEM fields, who are or will be affiliated with any institution in the NYC area, to expand their skillset and career development opportunities.

    National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity - An independent professional development, training, and mentoring community of over 93,000 graduate students, postdocs, and faculty members that offers on-campus workshops, professional development training, and intensive mentoring programs.

  • American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) - An international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science for the benefit of all people. 

    Association for Women in Science (AWIS) - The largest multidisciplinary organization for women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), dedicated to driving excellence in STEM by achieving equity and full participation of women in all disciplines and across all employment sectors. 

    National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) - The NPA is a member-driven 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides a unique, national voice for postdoctoral scholars. Since 2003, they have taken on the ambitious agenda to enhance the quality of the postdoctoral experience in the United States.

    New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) - The NYAS is a membership organization with 20,000+ members in 100 countries. They include research scientists at universities and industry, as well as representatives of business, government, and policy organizations

    National Association of Science Writers (NASW) -  Formally incorporated in 1955 with a charter to "foster the dissemination of accurate information regarding science through all media normally devoted to informing the public."

    Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) - SACNAS is an inclusive organization dedicated to fostering the success of Chicano/Hispanic and Native American scientists, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in STEM.

  • American Geophysical Union (AGU) Career Center - The premier electronic recruitment resource and advice center in the Earth and space sciences, where job seekers can develop their career by attending regular career advice webinars and workshops, apply for hundreds of jobs, and post their résumé online.
