Newark Named Fulbright HSI Leader by the U.S. Department of State for 2024
November 15, 2024
Rutgers-Newark has been named a Fulbright HSI (Hispanic-Serving Institution) Leader for 2024. Each year, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs recognizes select HSIs for their strong engagement with the Fulbright Program, the U.S. government's flagship international academic exchange program.
Fulbright HSI Leaders demonstrate noteworthy support for Fulbright exchange participants and encourage administrators, faculty, and students at HSIs to engage with Fulbright on campus. The Fulbright HSI Leaders Initiative also highlights the strength of HSIs as destinations for international students and scholars. Rutgers-Newark has made this list each year since 2021.
"We are proud to be recognized for our participation in the prestigious Fulbright program. As New Jersey's top HSI, we have worked to cultivate our reputation as a place where Hispanic and Latinx scholars know they can excel. This is just another example of what students can achieve at Rutgers-Newark,’’ said Rutgers-Newark Interim Chancellor Jeffrey Robinson.
