James Goodman Selected as 2024–2025 Cullman Center Fellow to Pen Book on Sidney Poitier

Pulitzer Prize finalist and Distinguished Professor James Goodman, of Rutgers University–Newark’s History Department and MFA Program in Creative Writing, has won many awards during his long career.

He’s just added another big honor to the list.

The New York Public Library’s Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers recently selected Goodman as one of 15 academics, nonfiction writers and creative writers for its 26th class of Fellows for 2024–2025.

Goodman was selected from a pool of 620 applicants from 66 countries that included a diverse range of academics, independent scholars, novelists, playwrights and poets.
