Biography
Dr. Rebeccah Newman serves as Associate Vice President for Administration for University Academic Affairs at Rutgers University. Within this role, she is responsible for the areas of administration, data analysis, academic human resources, HR budget analysis, and budget communications.
Before her time in higher education, Dr. Newman amassed over a decade of experience in marketing, specializing in data analysis and cross-cultural communication for domestic and international corporations. Her background in marketing served as a solid foundation for her transition into academia, where she integrated her strategic and administrative skills to grow programs and streamline processes. Dr. Newman brings more than ten years of program and academic affairs administrative experience gained from higher education institutions in New Jersey.
Dr. Newman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies and a Master of Arts in Asian Area Studies from Seton Hall University. She furthered her academic pursuits with a Doctor of Letters degree, concentrating in History, from Drew University. Driven by her research interests in cross-cultural understanding and immersion education, she pursued coursework in Japan, China, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. Dr. Newman's research has focused on the history of language evolution, immersion education, and the transition experiences of individuals from soldier to civilian life.
