Writing Accountability Groups

Writing Accountability Groups (WAGs) address one of the core structural challenges of academic life: little day-to-day accountability for writing. You must teach at specific times; service commitments have deadlines. With writing, you can decide to postpone work on that writing project until tomorrow/next week/winter break, etc.

What do you need to maximize your writing efforts?

  • Some faculty members want to physically share space with other writers as that holds them accountable and boosts their productivity.

  • Some faculty achieve accountability, productivity and support through on-line means or apps.

Listed below are existing groups with description and contact information. If you want to join a group, contact the faculty member. Unless otherwise noted, all groups are open to new members. If you see a group description and think that you would like to do something similar but at different time or location, you can start your own.

**Complete form to request starting a new group and we will post your new WAG on this page.  Still need more information to get started? Please contact beth.tracy@rutgers.edu to discuss.
