Aftershocks of Disaster: Puerto Rico a year after Maria is Rutgers University conference observing the anniversary of Hurricane Maria’s landfall in Puerto Rico.  The conference will feature a keynote discussion between award-winning author and journalist Naomi Klein and political anthropologist and current Carnegie Fellow, Dr. Yarimar Bonilla.  Prominent journalists, writers, artists, scholars, curators, and activists from Puerto Rico and the U.S. will reflect on the impact and aftershocks of hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.  

The conference is free and open to the public and will be available via Livestream.  

The program is organized by Professor Yarimar Bonilla in partnership with the Associate VP Office for Strategic Initiatives under the auspices and sponsorship of the Office of the Senior VP for Academic Affairs, Barbara Lee. Co-sponsors: Latino & Caribbean Studies Department; Rutgers Global; Institute for Research on Women; Rutgers Center for Women in the Arts and Humanities;  The Committee to Advance Our Common Purposes, CACP; and  Rutgers Advanced Institute for Critical Caribbean Studies.

Updated Special Events Parking Information

Visitors may park in Lots 26, 30 & College Avenue Deck without permits. Visitors must use the below link to register for the event.  Until this process is completed their vehicles are not registered and your guests may receive a citation.  Special event parking and special event permits are only for visitors to the University which does not include free metered parking.

Please note that Rutgers-New Brunswick Faculty, Staff, and Students must park only in lots they are authorized to park in.
