Pew Scholars Program in Biomedical Sciences

June 7, 2017

The University has been invited to submit one nomination for consideration for the Pew Scholars Program in Biomedical Sciences for 2018.  Please note that nominations are limited to junior faculty members who hold a doctorate in medicine or biomedical sciences and were appointed on or after July 7, 2014. These awards “support assistant professors of outstanding promise in the basic sciences relevant to the advancement of human health.” The program seeks to assist candidates with “particularly creative and innovative approaches.”  The award provides $240,000 in flexible support—$60,000 per year for a four-year period.

Please submit a research project summary, curriculum vitae, and a letter of support from the candidate’s department chair no later than June 19, 2017, to Dr. Linda Schulze (schulze@oq.rutgers.edu) 848-932-8068 of my office who will be coordinating the process. The usual peer review process will be invoked if there is more than one nomination. The selected University nominee will be notified by July 7, 2017, so that he or she will have time to prepare all the required materials by the October 23, 2017, submission date.

Our junior faculty members have been successful in competing for this award in the past, so I appreciate your help in circulating this call for nominations so that we may identify the strongest candidates. I look forward to reviewing this year’s nominations for this prestigious award.
